Welcome to Columbia Elementary School - Home of the Rockets.
Columbia Elementary is an AVID Elementary School. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID is a program that teaches students the necessary skills they need in order to be successful beyond Columbia. AVID teaches our scholars organization, accountability, and specific note-taking/study skills that will benefit them as they move into secondary and higher education.
At Columbia we want all our scholars reading by third grade. Reading is a foundational skill that all scholars need in order to build upon and grow within all the other disciplines. Our goal is to ensure every child leaves Columbia Elementary as a well-rounded scholar with a love for learning and aspirations for college and career. We want our scholars to know that they can be whatever they want to be and we want to help guide them on the path that will help them to meet their goals and accomplish their dreams.
This is sure to be an exciting year. We look forward to providing the safest and most effective environment for learning as possible for our scholars and staff. We count heavily on parent support and encourage you to get involved in your child’s education. Please join our various different family groups, where you have a voice in your child’s education. We have PTO (Parent Teacher Organization), ELAC (English Language Advisory Council), SSC (School Site Council). We will also be hosting various different events where you can meet the principal, and get to know our teachers and campus. We look forward to working with you this year.

Bienvenidos a la Escuela Primaria Columbia – La Casa de los Cohetes.
La Escuela Primaria Columbia es una escuela primaria AVID. AVID significa Avance Via Determinación Individual. AVID es un programa que enseña a los alumnos las capacidades necesarias que necesitan para ser exitosos después de Columbia. AVID enseña a nuestros alumnos organización, responsabilidad, y técnicas de estudios/ tomar notas que les beneficiara mientras crecen a la secundaria y sus estudios superiores.
En Columbia queremos que todos nuestros alumnos sepan a leer llegando a tercer grado. La lectura es una técnica fundamental que todos los alumnos necesitan para desarrollar y crecer dentro de sus otras diciplinas. Nuestra meta es asegurar que cada alumno se retire de Columbia como alumno completo con un amor a aprender, aspirar a la universidad y a una carrera profesional. Queremos que nuestros alumnos sepan que pueden hacer lo que quieran hacer y queremos ayudar a guiarlos a ese camino que les ayudara cumplir con sus metas y lograr sus sueños.
De seguro que este va a hacer un emocionante año. Esperamos proporcionar un ambiente educativo más seguro y efectivo en aprender lo más que se pueda para nuestros alumnos y el personal. Contamos mucho con el apoyo de los padres y anímanos que se involucren en la escuela de sus niños. Por favor acompaños en nuestros varios grupos de familias, donde usted tiene voz en la educación de su alumno. Tenemos a PTO (organización de padres y maestros), ELAC (Comité Consultivo para Aprendientes de Ingles), y SSC (Consejo del Sitio Escolar). También vamos a albergar varios diferentes eventos donde pueden a conocer la directora, a nuestros maestros y a la escuela. Esperamos trabajar con ustedes este año.
